Together, they form a combination that generally warrants more attention than either symptom alone, because lethargy alongside diarrhea often signals either that the underlying cause is more significant than simple dietary upset, or that dehydration and fluid loss are starting to have a real effect on how your dog feels.

Causes of this combination range from infections (viral or bacterial) and parasites to pancreatitis, organ dysfunction, or in more serious cases, toxin ingestion.
