What white foam usually is
White or foamy vomit is often a mix of saliva and stomach fluids with little or no food in it. That tends to happen when the stomach is empty, irritated or producing extra acid.

- Eating grass or something irritating

- Unproductive retching
- Drooling and restlessness
- Pale gums or rapid breathing
- Collapse or weakness

- Blood in the vomit
- Lethargy or pain
- Not eating or drinking
- Diarrhea along with vomiting
- Possible toxin or foreign object ingestion
- A puppy, senior or small dog, which can dehydrate faster
What to do for a single episode
If your dog threw up white foam once and then acts normal, eats and drinks, you can watch closely. Offer small amounts of water, and ask your vet before withholding food or starting a bland diet. Contact a vet if it happens again.
